CHICAGO | Stan’s Donuts & Coffee has emerged as one of Chicago’s premier donut shops ever since its arrival from Los Angeles. After watching Stan Berman on a travel show, president of the midwest-based Labriola Baking Company, Rich Labriola, partnered with him to bring Stan’s innovative creations to the Windy City. Rich wanted to build a true, coffee-and-donut culture in Chicago. The first Stan’s location in Wicker Park, opened in 2013, served up yeast-raised and cake donuts in simple flavors, especially compared with the nearby Glazed and Infused shop at the time.

Today Stan’s serves a great variety of donuts and while many flavors are still light and simple, they are far from dull. The inventive list of donuts includes everything from a traditional glazed donut, to a peanut butter and banana stuffed pocket, to its famous lemon pistachio old fashioned. Stan’s serves donuts made with buttermilk, real fruit, and spreads such as Biscoff cookie and peanut butter. Even better? All shops also serve delicious Intelligentsia coffee.

Rich and Stan were onto something when they decided to bring gourmet donuts to Chicago. Demand is high and Stan’s has grown from one location in 2013 to six locations across the city in 2016. Most recently, the donut gurus have launched Stan’s Van – Stan’s Donuts’ first food truck. We’ve included the location of the original below – click here to find your closest store.
