MELBOURNE | The Thornbury Local, which some might know as Bender Bar from way back, is a great little bar on High Street that’s all about creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for people from all walks of life. There’s not pretension or attitude here, just a whole lot of simple fun, great drinks, and live music from local bands and DJs.
Former owners Andrew and Christian Bianco created the kind of bar that they enjoyed going to, and the result is a venue that we always enjoy visiting. The interior is eclectic with an very casual vibe and out back is a shaded patio with heating, which means it can be enjoyed year round.
Drinks wise it’s a simple but quality range of local beer and wine, along with spirits and cocktails, while food options include pizzas, pastas, smalls, sharing plates, salads and specials. The late night 3:00am license means it’s one of the best places in Thornbury to head to for a drink when most other places have shut for the day.
