MELBOURNE | The Valley Cellardoor is a cozy space in Moonee Ponds which has a lot to offer lovers of great wine and beer. Wine is the first passion of owners Tony, Rose, and Mark Pendreich, and in this bottle shop/bar you’ll find a great selection of around 400 wines sourced from local boutique producers. The beer selection at the Valley Cellardoor isn’t an afterthought either – the fridges contain around 140 local and international beers to satisfy newcomers to craft beer and seasoned experts alike. There are also four taps pouring something interesting, and every time we visit the staff love to talk about what’s new and what they’ve been enjoying. Oh and if cider is your thing, there are around 60 of those to choose from at any given time too.
Customers can purchase their drinks to take away, or pay a small corkage fee and drink at the venue. There are a few different spaces – the main room and bottle shop, more tables on the side, and a surprisingly spacious courtyard out the back. There’s also a reserve and rare wine room if you’re looking for something particularly special.
Food wise, it’s charcuterie, cheese, and pizzas prepared on site, or you can bring in your own food if you like.
Keep an eye out on their Facebook page for details of upcoming wine and beer tasting night, where customers can try a number of beers and wines and meet the winemakers and brewers.
