MELBOURNE | This Is Life Wellness Emporium offers a sanctuary for busy families and individuals to take better care of themselves, whether it is in the form of a well-deserved body massage, or a deliciously wholesome and health-conscious meal. Husband and wife team, Ashley and Michaela, have always been passionate about health and wellness, but even more so since having their daughter, Charlotte. Their vision with This is Life is to create a space that inspires, nurtures and nourishes the body, mind and soul of each and every individual that walks through the door.
Being a Chiropractor by profession, Ashley’s skills and knowledge are utilized as part of This is Life’s offerings, which also include (but are not limited to) Massage, Physiotherapy, Naturopathy, Natural Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, workshops and cooking classes, and Children’s Yoga classes. This multifaceted concept uniquely identifies the common behavior of many individuals to not prioritise their health and wellbeing, and thus addresses this issue by making health and wellness services easily accessible. Information workshops and participation classes help to educate people on ways to look after themselves and their families, which indirectly aims to foster positive relationships between individuals and their loved ones.
In addition to the psychological, mental and spiritual nourishment experienced at This is Life, our physiological form also gets some special treatment via the nutritious offerings from their in-house café. Premade sandwiches, salads and raw sweet treats entice customers seeking a quick meal or take-away snack, whilst a condensed all-day menu is made to order, showcasing creative brunch-style dishes that deliver long-lasting sustenance without compromising on the promise of healthy and nutritious ingredients that also taste good.
For example, the closest resemblance to a sweet dish on the menu is the Oat & Chia Bircher Muesli, whose naturally sweet flavours are provided by seasonal fresh fruits and mini dollops of citrus curd, establishing itself as one of the best bircher mueslis we have had in Melbourne.
The main menu follows on with commonly photographed dishes such as the Happy Gut Bowl (a deliciously nourishing combination of sautéed and fermented vegetables, brown rice, avocado and wakamae furikake) and Beetroot Waffles (a savoury dish, just FYI), however it is the resourceful idea of offering a selection of individual sides that customers can also use to build their own dish, that truly impresses us. It shows that This is Life isn’t just focused on providing customers with recommended (and scientifically proven) options, but they also want to empower customers to make their own choices, whether it is based on their health and fitness goals, or just what they feel like eating on the day.
A uniquely engaging concept that combines Melbourne’s food obsession with our relentless desire to remain healthy and fit, and not just in the physical form. Creating a multifunctional space that breathes new life into the natural light-filled venue effortlessly inspires customers to want to focus on bettering themselves, whether it is through the health and medicine focused services on offer, education classes or wholesome food and drinks available to eat-in or take home.
