AUCKLAND | Vulture’s Lane is one of Auckland’s original and best craft beer venues, conveniently located in the centre of Auckland’s CBD. Walk inside and you’ll find a casual spot that feels like an old pub, which is no surprise since prior to becoming Vulture’s Lane in 2013 the space housed Irish pub O’Carrolls. Wood, dark furniture and furnishings characterise the ground level bar and the basement, but the space doesn’t feel dark and dingy.
The main reason to come here is of course, the beer, and Vulture’s Lane doesn’t disappoint. You’ll find 22 regular rotating taps of craft beer and over 100 bottles in the fridge, so there’s no shortage of choice for those looking to drink something familiar or new. New Zealand breweries are well represented here, with a good mixture of core range, seasonal, and limited release beers from the likes of Sawmill, Funk Estate, Epic, and Garage Project. There are also a lot of great international breweries on tap at any given time, including beers that are being poured for the first time in New Zealand.
The food menu is small and features a good selection of tasty bar snacks and meals. Think things like loaded fries, tacos, burgers, nachos, fish & chips and salads.
Keep an eye on Vulture’s Lane’s events calendar – often they have tap takeovers and special events featuring a range of beers that you might not be able to find elsewhere.
