LONDON | The World of Tales is a fairy tale-inspired terrace which has recently launched at D&D London-owned bar and restaurant, German Gymnasium in Kings Cross. We were recently invited to the launch and popped in to see what this winter pop-up was all about.
The roof terrace has been designed in partnership with Monkey 47 Gin and Fever-Tree Premium Natural Mixers and is decorated with winter foliage and fairy lights. The terrace takes inspiration from the much-loved fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. Eight of the tales have been transformed into beverages through German Gymnasium’s own edition of the original 1812 folklore book. There is a cocktail menu featuring drinks such as the “Little Red Riding Hood” made from Monkey 47 gin, Lillet Blanc, Byrrh and Fever-Tree spiced orange ginger ale and the “Cinderella” made with Lillet rouge, Rinomato bitter infused coffee beans and Fever-Tree smoky ginger ale.
The menu also features a selection of popular German winter foods such as roasted fresh chestnuts and Germany’s favourite sausages, including Currywurst and Bratwurst turned into hot dogs. There are also more luxurious food options available, such as oyster and caviar dishes.
The roof terrace is open seven days a week until 28 February 2018.
