SYDNEY | 4 Pines Brewing Company own a few venues around Sydney’s Northern Beaches, with each offering it’s own atmosphere and point of difference. The 4 Pines Public House Newport is the 4 Pines venue that feels most like a pub, and is also home to 4 Pines’ barrel ageing programme. As soon as you walk in to the long, narrow venue you’ll notice around 20 barrels dotted around the venue, working their magic on the beer inside.
There are 12 taps pouring 4 Pines’ entire core range along with a number of limited Keller Door releases. The Indian Summer Ale and Nitro Stout are always good bets from the core range, while the Keller Door range includes interesting things like (at the time of writing) an Agave Gose and aged Christmas Saison from 2015. There’s the option of a tasting paddle so you can try a few things if you like, and non-beer drinkers will be satisfied by the selection of infused cocktails, local craft spirits and local wines.
Do make sure you keep an eye out for any of the barrel aged beers – the Jean Claude Van Lambic, for example, is a golden ale that was aged in Muscat barrels and has hints of cherry and orange leaves.
For food it’s a selection of gastropub options. Think Cajun pulled pork sliders, fish & chips, pumpkin gnocchi and the popular Manly mega burger.
Also worth visiting are 4 Pines other venues, the Manly Brewpub, Truck Bar Brookvale, and Beer & Bread Belrose.
