PERTH | Double Rainbow is the dining portion of Northbridge’s multi level, multi zoned venue, The Rechabite. The 240 capacity restaurant is dimly lit and vibrant, with the energy of the open kitchen flowing through to the dining room.
The kitchen was originally headed up by chef Jesse Blake, with a Chinese influenced menu, but since chef Danny Sanchez took over the reigns, the menu has shifted more heavily towards Korea. Influences from other cuisines in the region are still present, though.
The food is fun and designed to share, with extensive gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. Think stir fried Brussels sprouts with pork mince, gochujang honey sauce and chilli lettuce cups, kimchi mac and cheese with cured pork jowl and sesame bread crumbs, and grilled Margaret River wagyu rump with bifurado black bean dashi, and smoked mushrooms.
The drinks list is impressive, featuring a large selection of wines and craft beers, with a focus on Western Australian producers. Cocktails follow the same theme as the food, with East Asian influences.
The space gets quite busy, and bookings are recommended. Walk ins are welcome, however. If you can’t get a table in the restaurant proper, try grabbing a spot in the side bar where you can enjoy a drink and still order food.
