MELBOURNE | Clifton Hill Brewpub has been around as a pub for over 100 years, but only since 2014, when the TAB machines and band room were pulled out, and the venue revamped, has it been home to a brewery too.
Forming part of the venue, and surrounded by glass so that punters can see what’s going on while they enjoy their drink, the 600L brewery pumps out a selection of core and seasonal beers that feature on the pub’s 16 taps. It’s not just the breweries own beers that are on tap at the Clifton Hill Brewpub, with beers from other breweries being served up on both the taps and in bottles (there are over 100 different bottles on offer).
If it’s takeaways you’re after, the Thirsty Camel bottle shop behind carries the brewery’s beers in bottles along with other local and international craft and non-craft beers.
Food is no-nonsense pub classics. It’s not going to win any awards but it does what it needs to do when you’re in the mood for a pub meal.
Overall the Clifton Hill Brewpub is a great space, that’s upraded and improved its offering immensely without forgetting about the locals or losing its “pub” feel.
