SYDNEY | Harry’s Bondi is the new reincarnation of Harry’s Espresso, which had been serving Bondi’s residents and visitors great coffee since 1997. In 2015 owners Harry Lambropoulos and Chris Karvelas purchased the laundromat next door and a few months and renovations later, the places re-opened as Harry’s Bar & Dining. The space is light and airy, fitting of its Bondi locale with lots of white and teal. Even the custom Synesso Espresso machine is coloured the same shade of teal as is used throughout the interior and exterior.

The new Harry’s still serves great coffee, but now has a proper food menu, and uses seasonal, locally sourced produce that’s organic where possible. It’s all very on trend, with the drinks menu featuring non-traditional lattes, kombucha and cold drip coffee just to name a few things. The traditional drinks that one might want are still on the menu, it’s just that the choice is now wider. Smoothies here really hit the spot. Try the mango cheeks smoothie with turmeric, activated cashews, banana, spice mix, coco water.

The food continues the theme, and fitting with the ingredients used is all high quality and very tasty. Sugar free, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options are available for those so inclined by necessity or choice, along with a selection of items with all of the good stuff. For breakfast try the quinoa & feta fritters, fattoush, avocado, labna, hazelnut dukka. For lunch, go for the tuna sashimi salad, soba noodles, mixed herbs, sesame & tamarind dressing. If you want breakfast for lunch, that part of the menu is available all day.

Service is friendly and cheerful, and staff are always happy to accommodate your needs, whether it’s menu adjustments or finding a way to squeeze you in rather than turn you away if possible. Whether you’re looking for the most recent on-trend food item or just some really tasty food done prepared with some flair, Harry’s is a great choice.
