BRISBANE | Hellbound is a small New Farm bar that’s the spiritual successor to the space’s former tenant, artist Steen Jones’ bar Deathproof. Couple Megan Carter and Phil Johnson took over the space, and their combined experience running bars and love of craft beer shines though.
Hellbound retains the general feel of Deathproof (Steen painted a new mural for the bar), and hasn’t lost it’s local’s vibe and non-pretentious attitude. It’s about great food, beer, and rock tunes.
On tap and in the fridges it’s a rotating selection of mostly local beers, ranging from simple brews through to ‘craftier’ options. There’s also a small selection of Aussie wines and a great spirit and cocktail selection. For food, it’s American dishes done right, like burgers, wings, and loaded fries.
