MELBOURNE | Inner North Brewing Company is a brewery, well, in Melbourne’s Inner North, and if you make your way through the industrial backstreets of Brunswick you’ll be rewarded with some fresh, delicious beer. It’s the brainchild of Zack Skerrit, who you might know as one of the former owners and head brewers of Henry St Brewhouse in Kensington.
The aim of the game here is to produce small batch ales ranging from solid, approachable styles to more experimental brews. Easy Pale is an easy drinking, citrusy 4.5% ABV Australian Pale Ale while their Double IPA packs an intense hoppy punch. For those who don’t like a beer, there’s a decent range of wine, cider, spirits and cocktails to keep your thirst quenched.
The space itself is an old warehouse that’s been converted for purposes. A tiled bar greets you as you enter with wooden furniture and greenery making things feel a bit like an indoor beer garden. The brewing equipment and storage is out the back of the open space for all to see, and it’s clear that there’s a lot of room to expand should the need or desire come. There’s no kitchen at the moment, but you’re free to bring in your own food or order from one of the many nearby restaurants.
We’d love to tell you more about the brewery, but their website and social media is sparse and they haven’t released much info at all – they just sort of popped up on the radar one day without warning. Our advice is to head down there and see the space for yourself. It’s a lot of fun and the beers are tasty. What more do you really need to know?
