MELBOURNE | Earlier this month, artisan chocolatier Mörk opened their new café and concept store, “Looking Glass”. Housed in one of Melbourne’s most iconic laneways, Centre Place, the new CBD flagship is the place to visit of you want to sample all that Mörk has to offer. I recently popped in for What’s On Melbourne.
On the ground floor of the compact venue, you’ll find a long counter that opens up to the laneway on one side with a chocolate and pastry cabinet and a chocolate and coffee brew bar. On the other side, it’s shelves filled with drinking chocolate, and other chocolate adjacent goodies and equipment for home. Think hand made Melbourne stoneware, chocolate granola, and bottled chocolate cocktails designed in collaboration with award-winning bartender, Orlando Marzo.
The full selection of Mörk awarded drinking chocolate and drinks is available. You can choose from different intensity hot and iced chocolates, and things like their popular Campfire Hot Chocolate and new creations. There’s also excellent coffee and mocha.
For chocolates it’s classic and seasonal bonbons, and single origin and flavoured blocks. Pastries include things like kanelbullar (cinnamon buns), reflecting owners Kiril Shaginov and Josefin Zernell’s Swedish heritage, s’mores, and cookies.
The finishing touches are still being put on the upstairs space, a loft like room with large iron wrought windows that open up to the laneway below. Its here you’ll be able to attend experimental chocolate and desert tasting sessions, cocktail (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) masterclasses, and more.
