LONDON | Anyone who is a fan of baking will be able to appreciate that eating the dough is one of the best parts of the process. Naked Dough, the first cookie dough café in the UK, agrees, and aims to appeal not only to all cookie dough lovers, but also dessert lovers.
Located in the Old Street underground station, Naked Dough’s sole offering is raw cookie dough in six different flavors, such as Emoji Poos (chocolate chip), Unicorn Food (marshmallows and sprinkles) and even an appropriately named Ed Sheeran flavour (caramel and honeycomb). The dough is served in scoops in dishes or cones, as well as cookie dough milkshakes. When we visited, we tried a combination of the Emoji Poos flavor and the Mud Bath flavor (chocolate dough and chocolate chips).
All of the cookie dough is safe to eat with no raw egg, while the flour has been heat-treated, ensuring that there is no risk of food-borne illness. The dough can also be refrigerated for up to three weeks before being eaten at a later time (if you can resist eating it all in one go).
Naked Dough was set up by Hannah (a marking and partnerships manager) and Jen (a City worker turned pastry chef), who wanted to bring the cookie dough craze that was hitting the US to the people of the UK, and is something a bit different than what we usually see.
