MELBOURNE | Looking for your bar menu to be a little different? Platform 270 may have what you need.
Picture this, it’s 5 o’clock, you’ve just finished a long day at the office, and you want to wash the week away with something refreshing and (likely) alcoholic. But with that initial burst of refreshment, you know you’re going to need food, good food to balance it out. We know what you’re thinking: I wish it was evening already.
Platform 270 is a bar at the Hilton Doubletree on Flinders Street. They’ve just launched their bar snacks menu, with each paired with a beer from the good people at Quiet Deeds. The City Lane was invited for the preview.
Bar nuts, done differently. These were very very moreish.
The Quiet Deeds session ale matched with sour cream and chive chips. Not your regular bar chips, and we can’t tell you how pleased we were by that fact.
The Quiet Deeds pale ale matched with the Quail special. Proving that quail is the unsung hero in modern food.
The Quiet Deeds IPA matched with BBQ salt fries. These are incredibly spicy, don’t be fooled into thinking otherwise.
The Quiet Deeds vanilla porter matched with deep fried pickles and fennel salt. We know it sounds like a crazy combination, but it’s worth a try.
The fabled Quiet Deeds Lamington Ale matched with a house made Lamington. If you only have time for a quick drink, we suggest you skip to this desert.
It’s a bit of a treat to have such a considered menu choice at a bar, so if you’re in the area, we suggest you enjoy it while it’s around.
