MELBOURNE | Prosciutto Bros. is a hidden gem located in an industrial corner of Eltham. It’s an old factory warehouse that’s been converted into a craft beer bar and Italian food haven by owners Jamie Cox (Kooinda Brewery) and Clyde D’Angelis (Sideshow Brewing). The large space is full of communal tables, and feels a bit like a warehouse mixed with a sports bar mixed with an old school Italian restaurant. It’s find the right balance between warehouse cool and welcoming niceness.

As soon as you walk in and look to the left, you’ll see a lot that impresses. 20 taps showcase an array of local craft beers while the open kitchen displays a wood fired oven for pizzas, freshly baked bread, and an array of smoked, salted, preserved and cooked meats and cheese. The food here is designed to share, and is very tasty. Any of the cheese, meat or antipasti boards are a great choice, as are the bread and dips. Pizza is a must – try the meatball pizza topped with tomato, cheese and Italian meatballs. The chopped slow cooked pork, which is available on weekends, is another must order if you see it.

The focus of the beer list is Victorian, with breweries like Hawkers, Two Birds, Kooinda and Napoleone featured amongst others. Wines skew local too, with an impressive wine list that covers all that you could want.

Prosciutto Bros is one of those places that’s perfect to visit with a group of friends – order a bunch of things to share, a round of drinks, and settle in. Wednesdays it’s quiz night, while Fri-Sun you’ll be listening to live music from local artists.
