BRISBANE | Revel Brewing Co (Rivermakers) is the new venue of the popular Bulimba brewery. It’s housed in the beautifully restored, heritage listed, brick 1917-built Commonwealth Acetate of Lime Factory. The building has been used for several purposes over the years, but brewing is in its veins (Acetate of lime was produced from beer that was brewed on the site 100 years ago).
There’s communal tables and seating inside, with the building’s original heritage features exposed, and lots of shaded tables in the dog friendly courtyard.
On tap, you’ll find 20 taps pouring Revel’s core range, as well as their limited and seasonal releases. Tasting paddles aren’t available, but the staff are happy to talk you though what’s on tap, and give you a few samples before you commit to a full pour. There’s also a very decent selection of Aussie wines for non-beer drinkers.
In the kitchen, former Brewski chef Dan Carter has put together a menu of refined pub classics with a focus on local ingredients. Think polenta fries, chicken wings, chicken parmigiana, and burgers. There are a lot of vegan options available too.
