Seafood Street 海鲜大排档, Melbourne CBD

MELBOURNE | What do I know about Seafood Street 海鲜大排档? Not much, in fact, but what little I do know was enough to get me there late one night, after an event when I was in need of a late night feed.

It’s a small Chinese restaurant that’s open until the early hours of the morning, focusing on a wide array of delicious Chinese dishes, and fresh cooked seafood straight from the tanks you see when you walk in.

Some of the old Ling Nan crew are involved, and you might recognise a few familiar faces dashing around the restaurant (yep Uncle Alan is there). If you were a fan of Ling Nan, you’ll love Seafood Street. It’s BYO too (there’s also drinks in the fridges).

Looking at the other tables full of groups of families and friends feasting away, I wanted to order all of the things. However, being solo I had to be (relatively) restrained. Of course I went for the XO clams with youtiao (Chinese doughnuts). I also got a bowl of the seafood tofu claypot and some rice. Both are outstanding.

I’m definitely coming back with a group next time, and ordering so much more. But even solo, a visit is highly recommended.
