MELBOURNE | Section 8 is one of the small bars that helped cement Melbourne’s laneway bar reputation when it opened back in 2006, and today, 13 years on, it still feels fresh and relevant. Located on a former parking lot in Tattersalls Lane, Section 8 was only ever meant to be temporary and still retains a temporary, minimalist feel.
Almost everything is the bar comes from recycled materials – the bar, toilets, and storage are old shipping containers, seating and stools are wooden shipping pallets. There’s a covered roof and heaters for year round use, plants, and a constantly changing graffiti wall. The space just works and there’s always a great vibe here, especially when local DJs are spinning vinyl.
There’s a small selection of house and classic cocktails on offer, along with local and imported wines and craft beers. Oh and there’s also giant Jenga.
