ADELAIDE | After my meal at Shobosho, I of course had to check out the sister restaurant, ShoSho. Located in the inner city suburb of Hyde Park, ShoSho is a tempura focused izakaya, with a slower pace and more relaxed vibe Shobosho.
I popped in for a few snacks, along with the thing I was most excited to try, the ShoSho cheeseburger. The cheeseburger took owner Adam Liston and the team several months to perfect, and to me, evokes memories of the fish burger and unagi hot dog I enjoyed at Deli Fu Cious in Tokyo a few years ago.
The ShoSho cheeseburger is wood roasted with a wagyu beef patty, gooey cheese, tea pickle, smoked tomato, shredded cabbage, and tempura nori. It’s an umami laden flavour and texture bomb. Back to the snacks, I enjoyed the salt and vinegar prawn “katsu sando” nori, and the tuna “bugak” crisp with yuzukoshu mayo. Both are well worth your attention.
I thought I was done, but one look at the deserts and I had to satiate my sweet tooth. The broken vanilla ice-cream sando with chocolate, salted caramel, and matcha, hit all of the right notes.
