Tweed Fusion 2015: Preview

TWEED VALLEY | Tweed Fusion is a 2-day celebration of the diverse and creative arts, music, food and culture of the Tweed Valley & Tweed Coast communities, and the abundance of local gourmet produce and cuisine.

From pop-up art galleries and artistic coastal walks, to an exquisite ‘Gershwin at the Gallery’ dinner at the Tweed Regional Gallery and Margaret Olley Art Centre, to a gourmet Sunday picnic in a secret location, this year’s Tweed Fusion program dishes up a rich and unique feast of inspiring events.

“Tweed Fusion is a celebration of everything there is to love about the Tweed; the arts, culture, food and lifestyle, packaged up into one inspirational weekend and spread across some of the Tweed’s most picturesque locations,” said Bill Tatchell, Destination Tweed CEO.

Along with favourites from the first 2 years, there will be a range of new events at the expanded Tweed Fusion for year 3.

One event which really appeals to us is the signature dinner at the regional gallery at South Murwillumbah. Tweed Regional Gallery Director Susi Muddiman OAM has said that it will combine music, conversation and fabulous fare incorporating fresh local produce with panoramic views of the Tweed River.

“This year we are pleased to include a floor talk at the Gallery with artist Michael Cusack about his exhibition, The Same and the Other. Dinner guests can also view the Gallery’s Margaret Olley Art Centre, contemporary exhibitions of national significance, curated exhibitions of established national and regional artists and artworks from the Gallery’s collection, including portraits, drawings, artists’ prints, sculpture and ceramics,” Ms Muddiman said.

Paul founded The City Lane back in 2009 as a place to share photos of his travels around Europe with friends and family. The City Lane might have changed quite a lot since those early days but one thing that’s remained constant is Paul’s passion for food, travel and culture, and a desire to photograph and write about his experiences. Paul has a strong inquisitive nature that drives him to look beneath the surface in order to discover what really makes a city and its people tick, and what better way to do this than over a good meal or drink, with a city’s locals, at places that people who live in that city actually frequent. Paul is also a co-host of The Brunswick Beer Collective, a podcast that may or may not actually be about beer.
