MELBOURNE | We love a good wine at The City Lane, but will admit we don’t really know all that much about cellaring. Sure, when we buy a wine we make an effort to ask how long the winemaker recommends it should be kept in the cellar (in our case our pantry bottom shelf) but we don’t really know all that much about it.

This is where sommelier Luke Campbell from Vinified comes in to to help. Luke is Hunter born and raised and has spent over 20 years in the wine industry. He’s travelled throughout the wine regions of the world, and worked in and advised Michelin Stared restaurants in UK and hatted restaurants in Australia.

With his 5 Secrets Of Cellaring Workshop, Luke is aiming to answer several questions that he is commonly asked, such as What are the true rewards of maturation? How do I set up my cellar? What might a wine taste like 6, 8 or 10 years after bottling.

During the workshop, you will taste several examples of current release wines vs the aged counterparts to gain an understanding of how a wine matures. Riesling, Pinot Noir and Cabernet are just some of the styles you will taste on the day. You will learn what styles you prefer with age, how to tell if a wine will age, and get the chance to ask as many questions as you want of both Luke and another special sommelier guest.

Tickets are $99.00 and include admission to the event, wines and a grazing platter, and 2 Gabriel Glas wine glasses valued at $45.00 to take home. You’ll also have the opportunity to become a member of one of Australia’s most exclusive personal sommelier networks.

Head over to Eventbrite to purchase tickets to this unique experience.
