MELBOURNE | It’s been almost a year since White Rabbit Brewery moved from Healesville to its current home in South Geelong, and in that time the brewery has expanded its offering considerably. Located in the old Valley Worsted woollen mill, in the same complex as Little Creatures Brewery, the venue is large and makes the most of its warehouse bones, with exposed brick, wood, and iron combining to create a farmhouse feel.
Favourites like the pale, dark and white ales are still on offer and as popular as always, but the extensive barrel room, which is open to view from the tap room and bar, has allowed the brewers to experiment with some interesting styles and ageing techniques.
Teddywidder, for example, is a tasty tart Weisse beer, while the Flanders red style ale, aged in red wine barrels, is a great introduction to sour beers to those who may not be familiar with the style. Along with the core beers, there are several taproom only releases on offer, and tasting paddles are available for those who want to try a few different beers. Staff are knowledgable, and happy to discuss the different beers and brewing techniques with you no matter what your level of beer expertise is.
Those who are hungry can choose from a menu full of food like pizzas, ribs and cheese boards, and there are plenty of books, glasses and other merchandise and beer related goods are available to purchase.
