SYDNEY | Bucket Boys Craft Beer Co is one of the best bottle shops and craft beer bars in Sydney, offering a wide selection of beers to visitors, including several you can’t get elsewhere, and some of their own collaborations.
Downstairs you’ll find the bottleshop – a minimalist affair of exposed brick and blocks of colour. There’s a four-tap tasting/refill bar, and plenty of fridges and shelves full of around 400 familiar and rare craft beer cans and bottles from Australia and around the world. There’s also craft cider, wine and spirits for those looking for something non-beer related.
Upstairs is the bar, which is a more colourful affair than downstairs, with the walls, furniture, glasses, and artwork all in sync in an eclectic kind of way. There’s a mixture of stool and couch seating and it’s got a real local’s vibe to it. You’ll find 10 rotating beers on tap – some of which are Bucket Boys collaborations and others from local and international breweries that owners Clint Elvin and Johnathan Hepner are fans of. There’s always something interesting on offer and the staff love to discuss all things beer with customers.
Unfortunately, being Sydney, restrictive liquor licencing means that unlike similar venues across Australia, the bottle shop and the bar essentially operate as two separate venues. You can’t by bottles from the bottle shop and enjoy them on site, and the opening hours for both differ. Regardless, if it’s a bar or bottle shop you’re after, Bucket Boys has you covered.
