SYDNEY | Sauce Brewing Co is the brainchild of husband and wife duo Mike Clarke and Kate McBean, who ditched their day jobs to taking their passion for brewing beer to the next level. After several years of home and gypsy brewing, they opened the door to their own space in Marrickville in October 2017.
The former warehouse is a sizeable building, but it’s actually a bit hidden and you have to walk just off the main street to find it. The main warehouse holds the taproom and the brewing equipment, and it opens up to a surprisingly large beer garden out the back. It’s all very industrial and open, and it’s hard not to be impressed by all the shiny large tanks, brewing equipment, and canning line.
At the bar you’ll find twelve of Sauce’s beers, including the core range, seasonal, and limited releases. Tasting paddles are available if you want to try a few things. We recommend the highly regarded Bubble and Squeak, a hazy 6.5% ABV New England Style IPA, and the Peach Sauce, an easy drinking 4.0% ABV Peach Berliner Weisse.
There’s no kitchen on site, but pizzas on Thursday and a rotating selection of food trucks from Friday through Sunday means there’s always something tasty to eat. Sauce is a dog friendly venue, and while the tap room is only open four days a week, you can visit to purchase takeaways 7 days a week.
