MELBOURNE | The City Lane was recently invited to brunch at Street Talk Espresso, a quaint little cafe located just off the main drag in Armadale. Running the café since 2009, Dean Fourtzis has focused on creating a comfortable environment in which to serve quality coffee and incredible food. Street Talk Cafe provides an innovative selection fresh meals and snacks, as well as daily specials, which can be enjoyed in house or to takeaway.

Street Talk offers seating both indoors, in the cosy, naturally lit front room and outdoors, in the inviting refurbished courtyard, lined with greenery and wooden benches. As it was sunny, we decided to enjoy our brunch al fresco, and immediately chose a soy flat white and freshly squeezed orange juice from the extensive drinks menu.

Street Talk definitely focuses primarily on wholesome breakfast options, with a smaller, yet equally tempting selection available on the lunch menu. I couldn’t resist the breakfast Acai Bowl, which consists of unsweetened acai berry puree, gluten free granola, seasonal fruits and coconut yogurt. Aesthetically beautiful and bursting with colour from the array of fresh fruits, this healthy breakfast is most definitely one for the Instagram feed! Moreover it was absolutely delicious, such a fresh dish packed full of nutritional goodness and with no added sugar.

From the lunch menu we decided to go for something a little more naughty with the Crispy Chicken Burger Texas style. We couldn’t resist this mouthwatering Southern style crispy chicken burger with crunchy slaw, trusse tomato, swiss cheese, sriracha aioli and a side of chips. I loved the combination of flavours fused together for this dish, taking a unique twist on the traditional burger. Moreover, I have to note that the portion sizes at Street Talk are generous, leaving you completely satisfied.

Although we could barely fit it in, we were invited by the friendly staff to try some freshly baked paleo pumpkin bread, straight from the oven. Topped with butter and homemade tomato relish, the bread was absolutely delicious, moist and full of flavour. I would highly recommend ordering a side of this warm, nutritious bread alongside your breakfast.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon at Street Talk. This cafe provides a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with a creative and extremely tasty selection of beautifully presented dishes. I will definitely be returning to try a couple of other breakfast delights I have my eye on!
