Hobart Craft Beer Guide

HOBART | Many people think of Cascade Brewery when they think of Hobart beer, and while the Carlton United Brewery owned brewery does have a craft beer element to it (it’s where Goose Island’s core range is produced for the Australian market), it’s other breweries that the capital of the Apple Isle is becoming known for.

Moo Brew is perhaps the best known of the independent Hobart craft brewers, while lesser known names like Shambles Brewing Co and Hobart Brewing Co have tap rooms in the center of town and are producing a wide variety of core range and seasonal brews. As far as craft beer bars go, pubs and bars like The Winston and Preachers are the gold standard, while many of the cities other non-beer specific bars and restaurants also do their bit by stocking local brews. Here’s our pick of the best craft beers spots in Hobart. Where are you favourite places in town for good beer?

Also make sure you check out our Beer City Guides list for more ideas on where to find great beer in some of the world’s best cities.

Paul founded The City Lane back in 2009 as a place to share photos of his travels around Europe with friends and family. The City Lane might have changed quite a lot since those early days but one thing that’s remained constant is Paul’s passion for food, travel and culture, and a desire to photograph and write about his experiences. Paul has a strong inquisitive nature that drives him to look beneath the surface in order to discover what really makes a city and its people tick, and what better way to do this than over a good meal or drink, with a city’s locals, at places that people who live in that city actually frequent. Paul is also a co-host of The Brunswick Beer Collective, a podcast that may or may not actually be about beer.
