MELBOURNE | Hidden down Driver Lane, in the old Black Star Pastry space, you’ll find the third and newest location of pastry chefs Samsky Yeung and Steven He’s cake shop, Le Yeahllow. I recently popped into the new location to grab some shot for What’s on Melbourne.
It’s smaller than the Little Collins Street location, but you can still find all of Le Yeahllow’s popular small and large cakes, macrons, biscuits, and more. The focus, is on beautifully presented cakes with creative flavour combinations, made using the best quality ingredients.
There’s a particular focus on seasonal fruits and lighter flavours. One of my favourite cakes here is ‘Mango Yo-Yo’. It’s a light mango cheesecake with mango confit, creamy yoghurt mousse, mango coulis, and chiffon sponge cake on a sable base. I’m also a big fan of the ‘Frozen’, a delicate chocolate cake with crispy feulletine, tangy bergamot curd and gel, and Earl Grey Bavarian cream
Macaron flavours include things like yuzu, Earl Grey and calamansi, and blueberry cheesecake. There’s also location-exclusive creations, like four flavours of the Dubai chocolate bar-inspired ‘Barre de Chocolat’ – original milk, chocolate “yeahllow”, white raspberry, and pistachio.
To drink, it’s an assortment of coffee and non-coffee based lattes, Valrhona hot and iced chocolate, and house-made tea and fruit spritzes.
