PERTH | If you’re looking for great craft beer in Australia, Perth is one of the best places to start. Western Australia is generally considered the birthplace of modern craft beer in Australia, with Perth breweries like Matilda Bay and Little Creatures were independent upstarts creating interesting, excellent quality beers long before craft beer was a thing in this country. While the heart of craft beer in Australia has arguably shifted to the east coast of the country, there’s no shortage of great beer being made in Western Australia and, given the distances that WA beers have to travel to get to bars in the Eastern States, there’s no better place to try them fresh than in their home state.

Along with great local beers, many of the best drops from around the country, and a lot of good beers from around the world, can be found in Perth’s craft beer bars. In Petition Beer Corner and Dutch Trading Co for example, you’ve got two of the best craft beer bars not just in WA, but in Australia. Places like Mane Liquor meanwhile, provide more than enough selection for those looking to buy craft beer to take away, be it in bottles, cans or growlers.

If you want to know where to find the best craft beer in Perth, our Perth Craft Beer Guide is just what you need. And of course, don’t forget the Swan Valley, which offers several great breweries only a half hour drive from Perth’s CBD. You can check out our Swan Valley Brewery Guide here. For other cities, make sure to check out our beer podcast and beer city guide page Brunswick Beer Collective.

What’s your favourite craft beer bar in Perth? Are there any Perth craft beer favourites of yours that haven’t made the list? Let us know in the comments section.
